The NY Times profiles people who are living happily in 350 square foot apartments. Do such apartments exist in Los Angeles? Who would want to buy them? Urban economic logic would say that they could pop up in very desirable neighborhoods of the city where price per square foot is very high. These are areas where people want to be but the basic logic of supply and demand dictates that middle class people can only afford very small apartments. I would guess that the people who live in such units are neat and don't own much stuff. This case study highlights the diversity of real estate experiences and how capitalism caters to this diversity of demand.
