Each year, after student teams present their final Applied Management Research and Business Creation Option projects, teams are nominated by their faculty advisors for the elite Edward V. Sedgwick III Memorial Award and the Deloitte Consulting Award.
The Sedgwick Award, which has been presented since 1985, recognizes the AMR team that produces a written report of exceptional quality, clarity and persuasive analysis.
For 23 years, the Deloitte Consulting Award for management consulting achievement has been presented to the AMR team and project judged to represent the highest standards of leadership, teamwork, research and analysis, professionalism, and strategic creativity in its solution to a complex problem.

UCLA Anderson selected five Deloitte Award finalists to make a presentation to a panel of judges from Deloitte Consulting in downtown Los Angeles on May 15, 2015. Deloitte consultants selected team Simpatica as this year’s winner. The team will receive a $5,000 cash award.
Professor Eric Sussman, who served as a panelist at the team’s final presentation, was extremely impressed by team Simpatica, saying, “It was one of the best AMR presentations I’ve ever seen.” The Simpatica project was brought to the AMR Program by Anderson alumnus Bryan Berkett (’07), who is a co-founder of the company. “Bryan and Simpatica have been amazing partners in the AMR Program for the past two years. We are thrilled to see this year’s team produce such strong results and strategic recommendations for the company’s next steps,” said Chelsea Lucio, AMR program director.
The students will be honored for their achievements at the Academic Awards Banquet on June 5 and their names will be engraved on the Deloitte and Sedgwick Awards plaques in the Cornell Hall Atrium.
