The “Into the Next” campaign edition of UCLA Anderson’s Assets Magazine has just published online and in print. This special issue highlights UCLA’s $4.2 billion Centennial Campaign, the largest fundraising effort ever undertaken by a public university.
Anderson joins the campaign under the theme Into the Next: The Campaign for UCLA Anderson, with a goal of $175 million and another $80 million for improvement of facilities. Funding priorities include vital support for: student financial aid; world-class researchers; curricula and research centers in emerging fields; global immersion programs; and facilities that foster preparation for 21st-century organizations.
Dean Judy Olian says, “The Centennial Campaign comes at a special moment for UCLA Anderson — as we forgo state funding and transition to financial self-sufficiency for all of our masters programs. This momentous transition brings advantages of nimbleness and financial self-reliance, while advancing our legacy of student excellence, faculty distinctions and our public mission.”
In 1935, UCLA Anderson’s founding as an undergraduate program and as UCLA’s first professional school was an act of spirit and vision foreshadowing a future that wasn’t obvious in those financially difficult times. From that beginning in one office in Royce Hall, the school created an environment where Thinking in the Next is the norm.
The Centennial Campaign for UCLA affords Anderson a chance to continue the work of those early pioneers. “Education is the key to progress and prosperity — the best investment one can make personally, for a community and for the world at large,” says Donnalisa Barnum (’86), co-chair the Anderson campaign.
