Christiane Barz, Leonardo Bursztyn and Nico Voigtlander of UCLA Anderson are among the 27 assistant professors across UCLA to receive the 2013-14 Faculty Career Development Award. The UCLA Faculty Diversity & Development Office awards as either “summer ninths” or grants of $5,000 to $10,000 to support research by these faculty at a critical time in their pre-tenure stage.
Barz, who teaches in the DOTM group, researches revenue management, dynamic pricing, healthcare services, inventory theory and production scheduling. Bursztyn is an assistant professor of economics, and focuses his research
on how a person’s social environment shapes their schooling, consumption and financial decisions. Voigtlander, who also teaches economics, researches long-run economic growth and the skill bias of technical change, as well as the multiplier effects that arise from linkages across economic sectors.
About 30 faculty receive the award annually. To view the complete list of winners and learn more about the award, visit the Faculty Diversity & Development Office website.
