Knapp Venture Competition finalist phresh “aims to make shopping on your phone awesome,” according to the company. The mobile platform makes it possible to browse and purchase clothing across retailers using a swipe method akin to dating app, Tinder. The company also gains customer insights, delivering data that informs consumer choices through intelligent recommendations and helps retailers to be better informed about consumer purchasing behavior.
Suggesting that the Knapp competition is something every Anderson entrepreneur should experience, Chief Marketing Officer Suzy Crawford says it’s been a great experience for the entire team. “For phresh, Knapp has allowed us to step back and answer a lot of questions about our core business, not only from a consumer and user perspective, but also from a VC’s perspective, as well as a long-term strategy lens,” she says.
The age-old economic law has driven part of that exploration process. “When we applied for Knapp we knew it would be a tough competition,” Crawford says. “We are competing against amazingly smart people with great business concepts. Advancing this far in and of itself has been a win for phresh.”
And, Anderson’s competitive-yet-encouraging spirit is what brought the team together and what has helped inform their entrepreneurial journey. “phresh is an Anderson team. We met here at Anderson and work here daily,” Crawford says. “We have not only been provided with great resources, such as access to faculty and the Price Center, but also a fantastic and supportive community that will help phresh become successful.”
