UCLA Anderson annually presents the John Wooden Global Leadership Award to recognize an individual whose exemplary leadership style and service to the community embodies the leadership qualities Coach John Wooden lived and also defined as a writer and speaker. At the annual John Wooden Global Leadership dinner, the recipient is celebrated while Coach Wooden's legacy is relayed to future leaders. The evening raises funds that support fellowships to students who have set themselves apart demonstrating their capacity for leadership. One of UCLA Anderson's signature events, the John Wooden Global Leadership Award Dinner is a celebration of our cornerstone virtues.
The award this year will be presented to Indra Nooyi, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, which is the largest food and beverage business in North America. Among her accomplishments is the pioneering of "Performance with Purpose," the company's commitment "to do what's right for the business by doing what's right for people and the planet."
Also being celebrated are this year's Fellowship recipients: Aviva Altmann, MBA class of 2013; Karla Sarni, FEMBA class of 2013; and Juan Rose, EMBA class of 2013. They and Nooyi join an elite lineup of John Wooden Global Leadership Award winners and Fellows. Below, we present some memories of the previous Award Dinners.
The 2012 John Wooden Global Leadership Award Dinner will be held the evening of Monday, November 5 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Tickets are available on the event page. The event will also be live-tweeted by @uclaanderson. Join in by using the hashtag #JWGLA.
