In this edition of the Leaders on Leadership podcast, Dean Judy Olian and Professor Peter Guber are joined by Joseph L. D'Amico, President of Apollo Group since June 2008 and Chief Operating Officer since March 2009. Apollo Group owns and operates several institutions of higher learning, including the University of Phoenix.
Early in the video, Guber asks D'Amico about leadership qualities, then follows up to a D'Amico response by wondering if a person's energy is an indication of their leadership potential. D'Amico says:
"Energy is a big piece of it. But I think you see it in their every day work. You see people will flock to them, they want to work for them. Their turnover is low, you begin to see signs that there is something different about them. They volunteer for those projects that are most difficult. They like the challenge."
