The LA Times has a fun feature listing which celebrity homes are on the market or have recently sold. This week's piece claims that some bold faced names such as Sheryl Crow and Nicky Hilton have dropped the asking price for their homes. Judging by the large number of people I saw at open houses for a 2.5 million dollar home in Little Holmby (and another for $2.8 million), the West LA market is heating up but there aren't many houses for sale. Given that interest rates are close to 0%, it is relatively cheap in terms of foregone interest for home owners to sit and wait to sell in the future.
