Childhood dream job: Pilot
Reason for coming to business school: I wanted to meet other entrepreneurs around LA and expand my skills in areas I didn't encounter in my first start-up. I wanted to be a more effective entrepreneur and leader and meet friends who shared similar ambitions.
Why Anderson? I loved the entrepreneurial culture and the vast amount of resources and events available to students such as guest speakers, D48 (Dinners for 8), Knapp Competition, and BCO (Business Creation Option).
Favorite classes here so far and why? Eric Sussman's Cases in Real Estate Investments. Professor Sussman is the most enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher I've had at Anderson; I love the real-world experience he brings to his lectures and how he is able to be engaging and funny at 8am twice a week. His class is the perfect blend of practical advice for us to use right away and theory/academics.
What is your Applied Management Research Project? I opted for a BCO* for Ridacto: A cloud-based platform that aims to make the process of legal contracts simpler, smarter, and more secure. Right now, we're using artificial intelligence to help attorneys and business professionals create more bulletproof legal contracts.
*BCO (Business Creation Option) gives students a hands-on experience in starting a company.
Favorite Anderson event? D48s (Dinners for 8) with key members for the Price Center's Board of Advisors. Meeting accomplished alums in an intimate setting (with great food!) has been a very enjoyable learning experience. I love to hear the inside stories of how various leaders have built their companies and pushed through roadblocks.
Best Anderson memory so far: Winning the Knapp Competition with my Ridacto team. It was a totally unexpected thrill and an amazing journey.
What helped you most in interview prep and your career search? 2nd year students who were entrepreneurs who helped lend their perspective on their process.
What is the hardest interview question you have been asked? What have you been thinking about lately?
How did you land your internship? I met the BetterWorks team at the Anderson Start-up Career Fair.
Why BetterWorks? I wanted to learn about how a product is built and improved on at a web B2B start-up, which is different than the start-up functions I was exposed to in my first venture. I like figuring out how to translate end-user needs and problems into product solutions and describe those in a way that engineers can understand.
Describe your internship: This summer, I worked with the amazing BetterWorks cofounders and the product team to create additional functionality to the employee perks and rewards platform they are building. I created product specs, worked on operational improvements, and got to hang out with some of the smartest and most talented engineers and salespeople in the LA start-up scene. Learned a ton!
