Why business school? After 3 years as an analyst, I was at an inflection point in my investment banking career; I had been offered the opportunity to stay on as an associate but I wanted to explore my options. I decided to use the opportunity to pursue my MBA, re-evaluate my career goals and move to LA.
Why Anderson? Despite growing up in the Midwest, most of my family now lives here on the west coast, and I knew I wanted Southern California to be my home long term. Business school then became for me the ideal opportunity to establish personal and professional connections in the region. After having targeted my b-school search, Anderson’s premier brand, reputation, and of course, location, was then the best choice.
What’s the best class you’ve taken and why? Dean Judy Olian’s class on the critical milestones in leadership. To have the opportunity to be taught by the Dean of Anderson is in and of itself pretty amazing. In addition, she also co-teaches with Peter Guber, Chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment. We are not only able to hear personal stories from their successful careers but also from prominent CEOs that they bring in each week who speak candidly about specific milestones in their own leadership experiences. Recently, Chairman of Gilt Groupe, Susan Lyne, was here, and the week before we had Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter.
What is your Applied Management Research Project? Evaluating alternative revenue sources for a company that places crew on luxury yachts. My team identified our target industry and sourced the project ourselves!
Favorite Anderson trip? Where to begin? I've traveled a lot since starting at Anderson. Some highlights: New Years in Brazil, the Cannes Film Festival and a trip to Mardi Gras, which a classmate from New Orleans organized. Each of these trips was a once in a lifetime experience where I was able to interact with my fellow classmates from the area and learn about the culture.
Best Anderson memory so far? Definitely running orientation for the incoming class.

How did you land your internship? Booz & Co found my resume in the Anderson resume book that Parker CMC publishes. Liking my pre-Anderson experience, Booz invited me to interview. I hadn't initially been considering consulting when I started at Anderson so I was lucky that Booz reached out to me.
Describe your internship: At Booz, I was staffed on a live client project and given similar responsibilities as a full-time associate. The client was facing rising input costs as a result of DOD program cuts, and brought Booz in to determine how they could best compete. The project was interesting as it was of very strategic importance to the client and our recommendations had to take into account a variety of stakeholders- including the U.S. Government and the 3-4 of their top suppliers.
